The Health & Safety at Work Act (HASAWA 1974) places duties on the employer (University of Edinburgh) to protect employees and others in the workplace. As a Researcher, duties placed on you include: Taking reasonable care of your own Health & Safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions. Co-operating with management in fulfilling any statutory HS&E requirements. Not interfereing with or misusing anything provided for your own health and safety. BVS management expect all staff and Users to comply with both national legislation and local rules when working in the units and will challenge any non-compliance issues observed. Local policy, Bio CoP001: Management of Animal Allergens (AA), details the duties and responsibilities of staff and researchers in the control and reduction of exposure to animal allergens.
