Information about you: how we use it and with whom we share it

The information you provide will be used by the University to support your use of our services, to  provide important departmental updates, administer your research activities, to gather feedback and for strategic planning.

The University uses an external company, A-Tune Software, the developers of the tick@lab database, to provide this service.  Whilst your data will be held by this company, the University remains responsible for, and retains control of your data as part of these arrangements. A-Tune   will not be allowed to use your data for any other purpose.

We are using information about you because we need to maintain a database

  • to provide information to you about animals held
  • to allow us to charge for services supplied
  • to record regulated procedures under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, a legal requirement.

We will hold the personal data you provided us whilst you remain an active user of our services, and for 5 years after you leave the University, in line with Home Office guidance for the retention of training records. At this point all information that can identify you directly will be removed. Please note that your name may be visible to other users within this database to facilitate collaboration and communication purposes.

We do not use profiling or automated decision-making processes.
