3Rs Symposium 2025 - Focus on the 3H's We hope you can join us for this exciting, free-to-attend event to be held at the Queens Medical Research Institute (Bioquarter, Edinburgh) on Thursday 6th November 2025, 9:30am - 3pm. This year we will focus on the 3H's - housing, handling and habituation, an initiative developed by a team in Bristol, one of whom will be speaking on the day. There will also be speakers from Edinburgh as well as short 3Rs presentations for which prizes will be awarded. We really hope to see as many of you as possible on the day for this great opportunity to interact with colleagues and hear more about the 3Hs and their importance in our research. There are 3 prizes of £150, £100 and £50 in vouchers for Edinburgh University staff/students who have come up with original, scientific or technological initiatives that: have led to the development of an alternative non-animal modelor have contributed to a reduction in the number of animals usedor have minimized animal suffering and improved the welfare of animals used in researchAny projects where scientific and technical staff have collaborated will be highly valued.The abstract (up to 1 page) should describe the purpose of the study or project, the methods used, and the results obtained. Following pre-selection, successful candidates will be invited to produce a poster and give a short 3-minute presentation of their work as part of our 3Rs day on Thursday 6th November. The winner will be decided by popular vote. This is an excellent opportunity to present your work to colleagues in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
